Our
Children are our Future!
Children’s and young people’s activities at Christchurch now have a new name –
Powerhouse. This incorporates everyone from birth up to the age of 15. Children
are split into various age groups as follows Birth – approx 1 – under
development Age 1 – 2 – “Sparklers” Age 3 – 5 “Livewires” Age 6 – 10 “Laser” Age
11 – 15 “Fusion” Between the ages of 3 and 10 we use material from the “Click”
series. Children join in with the beginning of the service and then go to their
activities in other areas of the church. We have a twice-monthly children’s talk
during the service before the children leave. The first Sunday of the month is a
family service where all take part, so there is no separate Powerhouse activity
then. We value children at Christchurch and welcome them into the congregation.
We aim to teach children about Jesus and to introduce them to Him personally
through songs, stories, crafts, games, Bible reading and prayer. Powerhouse is
lively and fun, and a place to see faith grow – both for the young people and
the teachers! We are aware of the needs of children whose first language may not
be English and would want every member of the family to feel able to attend
Christchurch. And soon our play area is going to be revamped!
